About Christopher McHugh

Christopher McHugh is an artist and researcher specialising in ceramics and printmaking. He is the recipient of an AHRC-funded Collaborative Doctoral Award and is currently based jointly in the Department of Glass and Ceramics, University of Sunderland and the Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens. The research focuses on how an artist might use the SMWG's collection of Sunderland pottery to engage the local community for mutual benefit. It is intended that the project will lead to the development both of creative artwork, namely a “Sunderland Pottery for the 21st Century”, and the establishment of a transferable model of practice for artist-led museum collaboration.
