About Lauren Prince

Hello I’m Lauren, the Project Coordinator for Culture Track. I support volunteers who are unemployed to develop new skills and experience through volunteering across Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums and also some other cultural organisations including Centre for Life, The Mining Institute, Dance City and The Sage Gateshead.

I’m responsible for recruiting volunteers for my project and providing individual support. This means that I give information, advice and guidance to the volunteers to find the right volunteering role for them and also to identify any further support that I can offer such as training courses, qualifications or employment support.

Within my role I get to organise lots of interesting training and events for the volunteers. Some of the things the volunteers have been involved in so far include, behind the scenes tours of the museums and collections, learning how to design and deliver a guided tour, a museum careers conference and learning how to bind books and much much more!

I’ve been working with and coordinating volunteers for quite a few years now, after I completed a degree in English Literature. In my spare time I try to fit in a bit of volunteering too. In the past I’ve volunteered at music festivals, Glastonbury and Leeds, for Oxfam which I loved. I also really love travelling and recently travelled around the world, which was fantastic!
